Release of TYPO3 4.4.0 RC1
Today, the TYPO3 community released the first Release Candidate of TYPO3 4.4. The final version will be released on June 22nd, 2010 as planned. Since the last 4.4 release of beta3, three weeks ago, there have been changes to Caching Framework, which got some updates from its counterpart in the TYPO3 Phoenix project, updates to the Rich Text Editor and the icons and styling of the TYPO3 Backend.
Although this is a release candidate, there are still some issues open that need to go in the final release and that are not included yet. That's why there will be an additional Release Candidate on Saturday, June 19th.
Known issues
Three things regarding the skinning part that need to be tackled still from my personal point of view are the styling of the TCEforms, the ExtJS skin and the task center. We also have minor modifications on our list that are related to the install tool and the introduction package.

What's next?
Testing - so please download the package and try it out. Be sure to report every single bug on bugs.typo3.org.

The new TYPO3 skin looks great.
Just an idea : What about doing the ext-manager and the user manager with an extjs grid?
-> The filter technologie would make great things possible ;)

The new EM is already almost done (by Steffen Kamper and Marcus Krause). After some usability optimizations it will be included in 4.5, quite sure!
Of course, you can do great things with ExtJS and so on (e.g. List module :-P). Only problem is that sb. has to do it ;-)

you're completly right, but maintaining my extensions and doing the daily tasks eat all my time, sry.
BTW, i heard of a new Tree widget (done in ExtJS) in 4.4, is it in, or will it be in 4.5? - Thanks
